Where I Come From

I grew up on a Morgan horse farm in upstate New York and learned the value of hard work and embracing your passions from an early age. My parents were a remarkable team—my mom was an herbalist and pet groomer, and my dad was a USDA food inspector and avid horseman.

Together, they built a successful pet grooming and boarding business that became central to my childhood. It was a bustling, fun environment where I learned to care for animals and saw firsthand what it took to run a thriving business. This upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for dedication and teamwork.

My dad has always been my biggest inspiration. At 50, he retired from his government job and went back to college to become a nurse practitioner. Today, at 78, he still sees patients several days a week and runs the busy clinic where he works whenever his boss is away. His impeccable work ethic, resilience, and passion for lifelong growth have profoundly shaped my own approach to growth and adaptability.

Early Entrepreneurial Roots

My entrepreneurial spirit emerged early on, influenced by my mother’s deep love for gardening and herbalism. In my early teens, I started my first business selling herbal teas and potpourri at local craft shows. This passion for plants has stayed with me throughout my life, evolving into a lifelong commitment to learning and exploring plant medicine and functional nutrition.

By the time I graduated from high school in 1991 – a year earlier than expected – I was already managing our family pet grooming and boarding business. At that point, I decided to forgo college to fully dedicate myself to what I believed would be my lifelong career. I poured my energy into helping my parents expand and evolve their business, learning everything from customer service to logistics along the way.

When I was 21, our family relocated to Naples, Florida, where my parents built a brand new state-of-the-art pet grooming and boarding facility. As manager of this larger operation, I led a skilled team and ensured that every pet at our facility received exceptional care. I learned about leadership, customer service, and how to react fast and solve problems quickly.

A New Chapter

But life, as it often does, had other plans. When my parents separated in 1998 and sold the business, I found myself at a crossroads. I secured a position as the sole pet groomer at a prominent veterinary hospital in Marco Island, FL. Over the years I worked there, I transitioned into a veterinary technician role and deepened my knowledge of animal care. Although I eventually retired from the industry, my love for animals remains a defining part of who I am.

In my late 30s, I decided to pursue a long-held goal: earning a college degree. I enrolled at Christian Leader’s Institute, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Leadership with a minor in English. Initially, my plan was to become a Christian counselor. But as I worked through courses in economics, business law, and marketing, I discovered a renewed passion for business.

These experiences taught me resilience and adaptability, preparing me for the next phase of my journey. They also reinforced my belief in the value of pivoting and embracing new opportunities when the path forward shirts.

Building a New Career

My studies ignited a spark that led me to reevaluate my path and seek out new opportunities. Today, as a content strategist and content marketing manager, I draw on everything I’ve learned to help business owners succeed.

Managing a thriving family business taught me the importance of leadership and empathy. My time in the veterinary field reinforced my attention to detail and ability to adapt to challenges. And my studies in business and marketing gave me the practical knowledge to create innovative, data-driven strategies that deliver measurable results.

I’ve never stopped learning, and have completed multiple certifications with Digital Marketer and advanced courses in content strategy, copywriting, SEO, and social media management through HubSpot Academy, TOFU, and more. I’ve also gained seven years of hands-on experience as the lead content strategist for an award-winning digital marketing agency. I’ve collaborated with businesses of all sizes, from small local companies to international eCommerce brands, helping them build SEO-driven content strategies that consistently deliver results.

Life Today

Today, I’m a content strategy consultant working with just a handful of business owners who have inspired me with their own passion and vision. What excites me most about my work is helping brands tell their stories in ways that connect, inspire, and drive growth. Every client has a unique vision, and it’s my privilege to help them bring that vision to life.

These days, when I’m not building brand-driven content strategies, I manage my partner’s private chef business, tend our small rural homestead, and continue my studies in herbalism and natural health. In my free time, you’ll likely find me in the garden or out on the porch with my nose in a book.

My journey hasn’t been a straight line, but every step has shaped who I am today. My dad’s example of perseverance and lifelong learning has always been a guiding light for me, inspiring me to embrace change and pursue my passions with determination. Whether it’s caring for animals, running a business, or helping brands tell their stories, my passion has always been rooted in learning, growing, and helping others succeed.
